Imagineering Project Management Intern

January - June 2019 • Orlando, FL

What I liked

The company is fantastic to work for. The people are amazing and you are inspired every single day. The pride everyone has to work at Disney is nearly tangible. It was exciting to get up every day and say, "I'm an Imagineer!"

What I wish was different

The work I did was not as technically challenging as what I've done in other roles. I felt like they didn't give their interns as much responsibility as other positions, BUT I still left with relevant work experience and stronger PM skills.

Advice

Finding an "in" is not easy. So many people apply to these positions that it's important to try and make a connection and not just send an application. I recommend using LinkedIn and connecting with current employees. Ask questions about what they do- People tend to be willing to talk about their jobs and then they may notice you or have a position in mind that you would be great for.

What I wish was different

Try and make connections with fellow Interns before you go so you can have people to share the experience with and support you. Also embrace a positive mindset and be thankful to work for such a reputable company.

Strategic Sourcing Professional Intern

June 2019 • Anaheim, CA

What I liked

I enjoyed the team I was placed on and the multitude of different opportunities that I was exposed to! I had a chance to work on projects with Food & Beverage, Services, Design & Construction, and Material Repair Operation (MRO).

What I wish was different

I can't ask for anything different, other than I wish that I would have been applicable for the 6 month extension that I was offered.

Advice

For anyone who receives this opportunity, I would suggest that they take advantage of every opportunity that is presented to them as a cast member whether it is for work or for play.

Disney College Program

January - March 2020 • Lake Buena Vista, FL

What I liked

I absolutely loved every aspect there was to the Disney College Program. My role in the company for this program was a Photopass Photographer. It was definitely the most valuable work experience I have ever had, as I was working for one of the biggest and most applauded companies in the world. The hands on experience in not only photography, but guest service and communication was unreal. Definitely worth every minute of this Internship, and I hope to one day be back working for the Walt Disney Company again in my near future.

What I wish was different

Advice

The Disney College Program is definitely something you have to go into with an open mind. I felt like I was able to reach out of my comfort zone through this Internship and become more comfortable and confident in my abilities.

Strategic Meetings & Events Intern

June 2018 - January 2019 • Celebration, FL

What I liked

Given responsibility of many of my own projects and events. Great company that takes care of it's employees.

What I wish was different

Would have preferred a shorter internship.

Advice

Gain a specialty/hard skill that can contribute in ways that the job description might not require. Business analytics was a great skill in my role within a team of purely event professionals.

Hotel Front Desk Clerk

What I liked

I loved my hotel and all of my co-workers. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. Our managers were always available when we had any questions. Another huge perk was getting into all the Disney parks for free. It was an incredible experience and I cannot recommend it enough.

What I wish was different
