Product Management Intern

June 2018 • Newark, NJ

What I liked

I really enjoyed being invited to participate in different facets of product development for the product lines within our division of the department at Panasonic. Assembly Tools play an important role in the quality engineering of safety critical components within vehicles, planes, and industrial equipment. I thoroughly enjoyed the mesh of being involved in the launch of new products: new model input on SAP, inbound/outbound supply chain visibility of inventory, performance reporting via IBM Cognos, and other wide-ranged tasks.

What I wish was different

Towards the middle of the internship, I felt it would have been valuable to spend more time with interns who worked in different divisions to better understand their roles and responsibilities. After noting this suggestion to HR, changes were made and events were planned to bring interns together throughout the remainder of the summer.

Advice

Taking initiative as an intern has been the one thing that has always helped me move forward and learn in my time with Panasonic. Knowing how and when to ask valuable questions, as well as always showing a desire to learn, are key in ensuring exceptional professional development throughout the experience.
